Was pretty annoyed today when I found out Chase Paymentech Canada terminals support Discover Zip (MSD, they don't seem to support DPAS via contactless) yet many struggle with Amex! You'd think they'd focus on card brands that issue cards in the country before card brands from outside of the country. My colleague was pretty happy with Discover acceptance in Canada, pretty much every terminal seems to support Discover (Most support EMV) with the exception of Moneris terminals where it seems to be practically random if they support Discover or not (He was in one restaurant where they brought over a different Moneris terminal that did work with Discover), Moneris also doesn't seem to support EMV (But some do support MSD contactless). It also seems to be completely random as to whether the terminal comes up with "Diners Club" or "Discover", Esso Gas stations come up with a catch all of "Diners (Non-NA)/Discover/BC Card" (And the Esso terminals seem to think the cards language is in French).
