Yes, I fully agree with your point on ANA being the member of the Star Alliance which is an advantage. I am also on Star Gold status, and I am enjoying the alliance partnership with ANA.
As you mentioned, yes they do have Personal TVs on Y class, but they are equipped only on 777s where JAL are planning to put in on their 747s. As majority of the fleets for both ANA and JAL are 747s, this will make a big difference in terms of service for Y customers...

Well, I guess we have to see what ANA will do to catch up when their competitor is upgrading their service...
