I had not planned Iceland this summer but ... there it is, the endpoint of our mid-June cruise departing from Edinburgh, up the east coast of Northern Scotland (redundant?), then over to Norway for fjords and villages after which we hie ourselves across the North Atlantic to Rekjavik to fly home to SFO.

I have my eye on that luxury hotel that is to open April 1st at the Blue Lagoon (after a series of postponements). The private lagoon suite is $3K per night with a two-night minimun. I am fine with spending big but worry about a new venue (assuming it opens as announced), plus Iceland where service is said to be friendly but hardly of the $3K variety of friendly. The plan would be something like one night in Reykjavik and two nights at the Blue Lagoon which is said to be only 20 minutes by car to KEF. Current thinking, could change multiple times.

I am understandably, I think, concerned about spending $6K on a newly-opened venue, assuming it opens as announced.
