Okay, I am so sorry about jumping to conclusions! That said, on the half a dozen times I've flown from HKG (CX F) this year, I haven't received any special tags and I've always been let through with my oversized and overweight belongings.
As noted, CX regularly attaches special tag for security, otherwise they insist that your bag fit into small box. The one time I didn't have it was with DragonAir, and then I compalined to the lady at security that this was OK because I was travelling in first class and she looked at my boarding pass and then let me thru...but it would have been easier if KA had given me a tag.
