I sat in 22A on SYD-LAX and it was well worth it. Extra legroom and a more private cabin. On a long haul flight it's a no brainer. The extra legroom makes it comfortable. Same seat as 17A on American's 777-300ER which I've flown many times and they sell it as Main Cabin Extra. I would also put in a bid for a Premium Economy upgrade as they can run ~$300.
