When this happens, do you still have the old eticket or do you end up ticketless?

I once upgraded online with MH and the new ticket didn’t issue, but the old one was still there. OLCI and even airport Check in still had me Y and issued boarding cards accordingly. A phone call was required to reticket before the new cabin showed up, but I wasn’t totally seatless at any stage as far as I could tell.
