No. Unless intoxicated, it is not illegal to consume your own alcohol on board a British registered aircraft. A crew member instructing a passenger not to consume his brought on board alcohol may not necessarily be a ‘lawful command’ under the ANO unless that passenger is drunk or disruptive or if there is some safety consideration.
