There seem to be several ways of upgrading on IB: One (post just above) is the traditional way done by an increasing number of airlines: During OLCI (or earlier if one accesses the "Manage Booking" feature on iberia.com) an offer sprouts at a certain price and one can seize it or pass. Another one (original poster) is periodical depending on "Promotions" and is done by email, asking to reply and await a call. I just received one (short haul flight, Spain Morocco) and got called as announced. What surprises me is that it was offered a full week before the flight, when EF showed only J2 available on an Airbus 320. Of course, as Iberia systematically blocks the first two rows of Economy until the flight's day, 8J seats can be added in one second.
