Just out of curiosity really.....

So Virgin Atlantic has the code VS.

Some years later Australian offshoot Virgin Blue launches with the code DJ.

Then some years after that Virgin Blue becomes Virgin Australia and gets the far more desirable designation 'VA'.

Does anyone know why Virgin Atlantic didn't get the VA code at its inception? Surely it would have been more desirable for them than VS?

I know, a trivial matter. But one i'm curious about.
