1. They do not ticket right away. Ut can take days, weeks or longer as they do things relative to how long away the flight is. It can be Pending for a while. You can call and push them to do it "Now" based on the upgrade availability. I've done this but, of course, it's never guaranteed,

2. Throwaway hotel or car is definitely no problem. Done this several times. N reason for guilt

3. Your assumption is correct.
