CX Award EWR or JFK to HKG - any chance of Op-Up for DM?
Slightly cheeky question, please humour me:
Am planning to fly from New York to Singapore via HKG on miles in business class (85k miles per pax) in early Jan 2019 and will be travelling with my wife and infant daughter. I’m a CX DM, the Mrs is CX Silver.
Currently I can book both CX899 ex EWR and CX889 ex JFK. Seeing as CX899 is operated by an A359, we could go nonstop to HKG, but the plane does not have an F cabin. CX889 does have an F cabin, but stops over in YVR.
How realistic / likely is it that we might be op-up’ed to F if I booked us on CX889, considering that we will be travelling on the first weekend of Jan and I am expecting loads to be super-high? Should I go for it, or would it be wiser to take the shorter route ex EWR in order to minimise travel time?
In either case we would be guaranteed seats in J, and the only downside to flying ex JFK would be the stopover in YVR.
What would you do?
