Voluntary reroute to direct flight leaves me 10 tier points short of gold - options?

I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I should check. Due to expected severe weather in the US there is a travel waiver on my return flight to the UK on AA, which had been booked with a very tight domestic connection (it was about £1000 cheaper than any other option!). A travel waiver was issued and I've rebooked on an earlier direct flight (I need to get back on time so this definitely seemed like the best option, rather than risk a cancelled or delayed connecting flight).

However, I'm now going to be 10 tier points short of my gold requalification. I presume I just need to suck this up and book the cheapest return day trip tier run I can find, rather than hope to appeal to BA's better nature? I have 4 weeks left of the tier point year so I guess I need to get on with things if I want to do this affordably.
