I have not seen another thread for this but is a way to earn Elite Qualifying points and is not just for business bookings so...

The programme is open to individuals who are either corporate bookers, business travel/meetings agents or individual bookers subject to the following conditions. A corporate booker is an individual who books Qualifying Spend at Participating Hotels for and on behalf of his or her employer for business purposes. A business travel/meetings agent is an individual who is employed by a travel/meetings agency, books Qualifying Spend at Participating Hotels for and on behalf of his or her clients for business purposes and who does not have a central agreement with any IHG company either directly or through being a member of an agency consortia group. An individual booker is an individual who books Qualifying Spend at Participating Hotels on their own behalf. Companies and/or other entities cannot enrol. Business travel/meetings agents that have a central agreement with any IHG company cannot enrol.

Once registered you can earn Business Rewards points for:
* Holding 'Meetings' &/or 'Events' - e.g. committee meeting for a social group / sports club / professional organisation, celebration party / function
* Booking rooms on behalf of others (and they also earn points as normal) - e.g. booking rooms for colleagues / family / friends

For Meetings / Events, ask the hotel about earning points via the Business Rewards programme when making the booking and have your membership number added to the paperwork.

For Rooms On Behalf Of Others, in the old IHG website you chose to make a booking using your Business Rewards account during the booking process (as opposed to your personal account) and were then asked to enter the details of the person you are booking for, including their IHG membership number (if applicable). Since the new website has been released this seems to have changed. A new (?) Business Rewards website (businessrewardsbookerbonus.ihg.com/index.php) and the associated "How To Book" web-page (www.ihg.com/businessrewards/gb/en/howtobook) state:

"For online bookings, please add your IHG® Business Rewards number in the comment box but please don’t add the IHG® Rewards Club numbers of the guests you are booking for – guests should present their IHG® Rewards Club cards to the hotel at check-in. Your points will appear in your account after all stays in an event have taken place but please note that it may take 6-8 weeks after the last stay to see the points in your account."

This seems a lot more messy then the old system whereby you clearly made room reservations for others using the Business Rewards option in the booking process and then entering the actual guests details IHG membership number (if applicable).


As for the points that can be earned:
* Members will earn three (3) IHG® Rewards Club points for every $1 USD dollar or local currency equivalent paid towards Qualifying Spend at Participating Hotels
* Points will be rounded up to the nearest whole number of points.
* Up to two Members may agree to share points for Qualifying Spend on a meeting/event. (Useful if you are both close to qualifying / re-qualifying for Elite status.)
* A maximum of 60,000 points can be earned on any meeting/event, including all guest room bookings and other Qualifying Spend linked to such meeting/event.

And most importantly:
* IHG® Rewards Club points earned under the IHG® Business Rewards Programme are considered Qualifying Points which count towards IHG® Rewards Club Elite status.

But note:
* Qualifying Spend on guest rooms only includes guest rooms which a Member books for others. It excludes spend on Member’s own guest room.
* Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, and Spire Elite bonus points cannot be earned on IHG® Rewards Club points earned through the IHG® Business Rewards Programme.
* Meeting/event attendees will not earn IHG® Rewards Club points for their stay if their individual room bill is paid through a master account.
