While I try to have my AS number added, I have found no rhyme or reason as to (A) when the AS number will actually print on the stub and (B) if it will credit to AA, AS or neither. It seems to be random. (As in, my last AA international flight has AS on the ticket stub, but credited automatically to my American account, almost certainly related to my booking it on aa.com with my account.)
