I really think it is it is a bug in Wallet with the geolocation - maybe because a BP displays based on time - but when you get to a location, where in many other instances a pass would appear on the lock screen, this is reversing it and disappearing. As I said, has happened with more than UA, and out of multiple airports, so I’m pretty sure it’s a bug Apple needs to fix.
I'm not familiar with Apple's API, but do not believe that it is an issue on Wallet's end, at least not for all passes. For instance, my membership cards that are associated with geolocations still work (starbucks, movie theaters, etc.).

*which ironically, the final gate change was back to the originally assigned gate

Cool, great to hear! (about the working passes at least. Less so for the numerous gate changes as I know of a few parents that could easily get confused with all the changes.)
