There are multiple flights a day BKK-USM (Ko Samui) on PG (Bangkok Airways). It just costs more than flying to KBV (Krabi) or HKT (Phuket), but with an advance booking, it is not prohibitive. Also the airport is close to the main town, Chaweng, unlike Phuket.
