I know it will be the high season (first week of 2019) but we want exotic, scenic, natural beauty, rest and relaxation, preferably not overdeveloped touristy and yes we want the ability to swim and/or snorkel at the beaches. We will be spending a few nights in Ubud, Bali on cash so would prefer to burn through some points as opposed to paying out of pocket for these accommodations. We have points and/or some sort of status with just about every program and am due for an AOR this month so what I don't have, I can get. Initially we wanted to do Ko Samui, but were warned against it because it will be the tail end of the rainy monsoon season. Based upon Diplomatico and CrazyInteg posts I think I might have narrowed it down to Krabi, Khao Lak and Phi Phi. Although Phi Phi seems like it is just as much of a pain to get to as Ko Samui.
i think Phuket might be a good option - have a look at Le Meridien, with its own beach. Another suggestion (paying) would be Cape Panwa Hotel - scenic, own beach. Close to Cape Promthep, which is very nice. Can’t claim that Phuket is very exotic though, but that goes for most of Thailand’s touristy areas.
