Always a bad idea to book through one of these outfits.

I would take the view that if the booking went through without raising any red flag at the time, onus should be on them to fix. I would not take BS for an answer BTW. If they took your money, deal is in place and the problem is theirs.

BTW how does the ticket show at aircanada.com?
