Will I run into any problems? It's not as if I were connecting on separate airlines or even separate planes. In that case, I'd leave 5-12 hours' worth of buffer, depending on frequency of flights.

Summing up:
ZRH-MXP (Aeroplan reward booking)
Deplane and re-board immediately MXP-ZRH-LHR (all LX ticket stock and return to MXP 3 days later)

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Funny is that I basically have the same. Ticket one is YVR-LHR-ZRH-MXP (stops in Zurich). MXP-ZRH-YYZ-YVR - - LAst segment of ticket 1 immediately preceeds the start of the first segment of ticket 2 - off and on again on the same plane. . .

I love MXP - - great place for a 30 minute visit . . ;-)
