I have no personal experience with any situation where I received any kind of compensation (or required compensation).
That said, in recent years they have moved away from backing guarantees with compensation promises. They still nominally guarantee the bed type (room type, too?), but the “oops, we screwed up” compensation promise is gone. I think closed lounge compensation is another example. My general impression with (World of) Hyatt in recent years is that they aren’t quite the same hospitality business anymore. Individual properties may well deviate in what they do. Examples like recent threads about the GHNY or the Andaz Maui come to mind.
