(That doesn't mean LH should use those colours. They're not a state-owned airline any more.)

The German flag stands for nationalism which generations of Germans have been told is a bad thing. Hence till 2006 the only place you find it was on leisure boats. Times are changing but no one would paint an aircraft in national colors....
