I was upgraded to the Junior Suite on a points stay. Also see my post in the Experiences thread.

As Spire, I was given the option of lounge access or 600 points. Only lounge breakfast was offered.

Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted my photos of the room, but the following photo from the IHG website does a pretty good job. The main difference from reality is that the room was much darker, even when I turned on all the lights fully.

The room faced northwest and there was a narrow balcony. I believe the Acropolis would have been partially visible in the day, but we arrived at 6pm in the dark and were not paying attention in the morning. The balcony was not very pleasant because of the noisy traffic from the major road below, and it was also quite cold.

The lounge was not staffed. We went at 6.15pm and upon entering, there were two Americans talking very loudly. We didn't do anything to indicate that this was a problem, but they came over and apologized, then each took a plate of food and poured another drink which they brought back to their room.

There was a TV and several computers. It was unclear whether one was for staff use, but in any case they did not work.

There was also another man smoking by the door to the balcony when we arrived, but he immediately left after finishing his cigarette. We closed the door to block out the lingering smell. Later I went outside to take this picture and it was quite cold.

There was a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, a tray of warm kebabs and some small sweets.

At 7pm a woman of Greek appearance entered the lounge, and took a bottle of spirits away to her room!

We had already eaten half of them before I took this photo.
We stayed in the lounge until 8.30pm and nobody else had come in by then, so we finished them off! We couldn't be bothered to look for more food after that so retired to bed.
Nothing was cleared or replenished, but it was hardly necessary given the lack of guests.

In the morning, there were croissants, pastries and fruits. Our sole companion for breakfast was a man wearing a bathrobe and slippers, reading a Greek newspaper. The only item he consumed was a small espresso and again no staff were to be seen while we were there.
