Great thread. My first attempt at a Tier point run. Have just dropped from Gold to Silver on BAEC and now realize the difference especially on fast track and first lounge in LHR. I need to do a trip to CapeTown and Joburg from the 8th to 14th of March from my base in Dublin. I have flexibility +/- a day on the dates. Will fly business and have budget about $3k to spend. I'd imagine your best bet is Qatar from somewhere Nordic, where you'll get 4 sectors in business class via DOH. Maybe have a look ex MUC or HEL?
