Never a problem
Other than the lines at YYC being crazy long at times I have never been sent to secondary and have not paid taxes on any excess declared amounts - the excess was always not huge so I guess its the honesty pays principle

Oh, and on the kids with notes discussion I have no problem with them requiring these, especially with young and impressionable kids - I think that the 17 year old, while requiring a note, can generally speak for him or herself.
