As far as I can tell the "same day" language has always been there --
and this is from SkyTeam website, which means SkyTeam airlines in Europe understand same day as "within 24 hours". I'm used DL has more strict policies, so wouldn't be surprised if same day means same day for Delta (what MSPeconomist points to).
