It's the amount of plastic surround that varies
The bit your bum sits on yes, but the physical unit gets wider as you go 747 => 777 => A380. As a broad shouldered person, I feel much more comfortable on the latter two.
Totally first world problem though, and I appreciate I’m in a fortunate enough position to fly any of them
