Also, the City of Vancouver is split into East and West sides (seperated by a street called Ontario Street) with the west side being more expensive.
Don't be a surprised if a similar house/apartment on one side of the street costing twice of another across the street!
Downtown is another story...
Also, have you considered parts of Greater Vancouver such as the Burnaby (east of Vancouver - basically divided by a street called Boundary Road), or Richmond (across the river, south of Vancouver) near the airport (not all parts of Richmond are in the flight paths), or the North Shore (West Vancouver and North Vancouver, which is across the Burrard Inlet))?
