Basically middle names are optional everywhere in the world. In my experience they can cause more problems than they are worth in countries like Japan where they can sometimes be super anal and the full name is too long to print in its entirety on the boarding pass. Even in the USA, I never put a middle name on my ticket unless it's bought directly from United.com, since it's hard coded into my profile there.
