For reference All NZ's Americas service leave early evening to late evening, arrive back in AKL early morning (to all for connections to/from Australia)
AKL-YVR NZ24 8.05pm
AKL-SFO NZ8 7.45pm
AKL-LAX NZ6 7.30pm
AKL-LAX NZ2 10.50pm
AKL-IAH NZ28 7.10pm
AKL-HNL NZ10 8.55pm
AKL-EZE NZ30 8.15pm
So if you we're MEL based you could take NZ128 MEL/AKL 4.10pm/9.40pm and still connect onto NZ2 at 10.50pm.
