Exactly zero of my misconnects last year were due to "tight connections". I just looked at openflights and I booked 22 connections less than 45 minutes and I didn't misconnect on any of them. My misconnects last year were due to MX, WX, or ATC and all of them just happened to be on (scheduled) connections of over an hour.
