March 17, 2007. I flew from LAS-DTW to see the last ever Bob Seger concert at Cobo Hall. Considering I was one of the 27K backup singers on Live Bullet back in 1976 , there was no way I was going to miss this last show.

Next morning, standing in F pre-board line, I'm behind a big guy, black leather jacket, long ponytail, guitar case. Turns out it's one of Seger's guitar players. Lo and behold, I get the seat next to him. First thing I say to him was, "Bob wouldn't let you fly back on Seger One?" (my name for the private jet Seger used to/from cities). After I explain the context, he thinks its the funniest thing and we get to talking.

I figure he's probably sick and tired of being asked questions just about Bob, so we talked about his family, his guitar store in LV etc. He can't believe I did a 13 hr trip to Detroit in March, just to see a concert. I tell him I was at Cobo for Live Bullet, all Bob's other DTW concerts and there was no way I was going to miss this one. I even pull out the t-shirt I wore the night before. It's twenty years old, about fifteen sizes too small but its from a summer concert series at the old Pine Knob where the band broke attendance records. He wonders why it's in my carryon. I tell him I didn't want to take the chance of DL losing it.

Only "celebrity" moment was when he wanted to know if I wanted him to sign something. So he signed the Delta drink napkin for me, which I still have, somewhere in a box While waiting at LAS baggage claim, he introduces me to his family.
