Perhaps the fare you were on before did not have a change fee. Most airlines do. Like British Airways.. its sometimes as high £200. So for your ticket, it will be what the conditions of the ticket are.

So best is you contact Sri Lankan directly since you're in Sri Lanka because I do not know the conditions of your ticket. Just giving me the booking class without where you started from is useless to me. If you find the change fees to excessive. and that you can't get any money back.. (again you have to ask Sri lankan Airlines about that). then just buy a one way back to where you came from if its cheaper.
