I only ever get those refurbished clubs room facing the river too. Stayed there 20 times and tired Twin suite using DSU. Very little loyalty coming out of GH Fukuoka.
They have really tried to make the hotel dining options better but there's so much good food outside that I probably would never eat there.
The days of 18000 yen seem to be over and I would only do C+P to stay here. They're joking at 35000 yen for a weak lounge and modest room.
Re the GH: I'm sure
jpdx would have appreciated the river view! The rates really jump when folks from the countryside are coming in to the city for some event. And as you said previously, weddings are big here (not that there's a lot of other options for a high-end wedding in Fukuoka). Booking early, I've still seen entry-level rooms at ¥21000 (+tax) even at peak periods. For non-globalists it is nice that the P&C rate also books into the King Room as well as the Queen Room.
