Just to clarify that according to Jewish religious law it is forbidden to get closer to the Holy of Holies, namely to enter the Temple Mount itself. This ruling, still observed by most orthodox Jews, is changing in recent year due to political reasons.
Thank you Innocent Abroad. Interesting that there was a group of orthodox settlers that were visiting there, with 6 armed Israel security guards with them at all times.
