I bought lunch and dinner, but that was included with the voucher, I did pay cash for the gratuities though and like 6 dollars extra because I went over the voucher.
I may be wrong but my guess was that because you spent some out of pocket money, the stay was (wrongly) credited with full points.
I once attended a conference at a Hilton property.
Room was master billed through the conference organizer.
I did not get points for the stay even though the room rates were known and was actually an optional add-on but I did get stay and night credits.
