No I do not get it.

What does a flight delay and overnight accommodation have to do with the subject of your post? And who "does not care"? And about what? And what is "not good people management?"

If there are 3 seats open in Main Cabin or Main Cabin Extra, and you are the top three pax on the standby list - you'll get the seats. If not - well, you won't. Ability to move into open seats once the door is closed has nothing to do with that.
