I was booking for a vacation in Europe, and noticed a hyperlink Family policy - Hilton Athens to "view family policy". This opened at new link which read as follows, but provided zero real instructions:

Family policy

Children aged 12yrs or under stay free in room with parents or grandparents; Second room for children charged at 50% of first room. Half-price room for children may not apply on select promo rates.


After a google search turned up this:
Finding accommodations for big families in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa can be challenging. Luckily, Hilton has 38 properties with family plans which allow you to book a second room at 50% off. The family plan in most cases can not be used in conjunction with other specials or sales.

Note that you’ll have to make reservations for 2 rooms and contact the hotel to confirm the 50% off as there isn’t a special code for their family policy.

I called the diamond desk who suggested that I make the reservation and then touch base directly with the property's reservation department during the week.

Has anyone had success using the family plan? Are there better options?
