meek99,
- I did support my opinion with fact.
- I did not call anybody a "moron," I simply stated that these topics are moronic. Surely common sense must dictate that aircraft that are so young they haven’t even underwent a heavy maintenance check should be classified as “old” (especially considering UA operated its classic jet fleet for 25-30+ years - in fact, on 9-11-01 they were the only legacy airline to not yet have begun phase out of their 732 and 727 “advanced” jets). If UA can’t upkeep aircraft that have been within its fleet for only two years, what makes you think they’ll be able to do it to aircraft that have only been there for two days? Replacing aircraft instead of up keeping them is extremely costly, especially to a bankrupt airline.
- I’m not agitated; I just chuckle at the thought that cabin interiors shouldn’t be replaced and instead the aircraft should be disposed of. John Travolta’s 707, Donald Trump’s 727-100 and Northwest’s fleet of DC-9 are living proof that “vintage” aircraft can have modern interiors (regardless of your opinion of that aircraft – e.g. it’s unsafe – or that airline.)
