Either way the current process creates a step that can be easily avoided/eliminated thereby reducing cost. This will improve passenger experience by having a more seamless bag check process at the same time giving agents more time to deal with more complex situations (i.e. IROPs).
I wouldn't mind - it'd remove the expectation of a priority service that they can't actually deliver consistently.
At my home airport they've actually removed the self-tagging process for the first/priority/EXP (Whatever it is) lane. Just go right to the agent. Agent told me too many people were having issues with the machines. ^ from me. Definitely a better passenger experience.
