Our AF flight was cancelled out of LA till the next day so they put us in a hotel overnight, Embassy Suites South LAX. When we checked in I was informed that since it was a voucher stay I wasn't able to earn points, which was ok, but later on I remembered I didn't even receive the MyWay benefits, which they informed me that I wasn't eligible for either. Basically since it was a voucher stay paid for by the airline non of my Gold Benefits were eligible. But I just checked my account and it turns out I did earn points for the stay. So now I'm wondering was I eligible for the benefits too and they were wrong? I have gold through the Amex Platinum so I don't know much about Hilton Honors and how it works. But it seems silly to me that benefits wouldn't apply. And had I known I'd have gotten points (they told me I wouldn't) I'd have selected to earn miles instead since I barely stay at Hilton Hotels, mostly at Marriotts.
