You didn't mention the aircraft type..but the 737-900 sometimes needs the kickstand in the back to keep it from tipping. 😂😂 Maybe Cpt thought the jetbridge was an easier way to explain it away.
Hopefully not being too pedantic, but don't they always use the pole with a 739? I.e. not just 'sometimes'?
