If you were to redeem those points for payment on your AMEX card you'd get a $1000 credit.

You are not being discriminated against in the sense the word is meant to be used. The claim as presented is ridiculious. It is a software issue only.

Spend $1000 on your AMEX with BA by doing a dollars/BA points ticket redemption combo if they permit that.........then credit the AMEX MR points to your account and close it out.
