I am in a similar situation but due to Etihad charging me. I am a Platinum with American. My tickets were issued were issued by American ( 001** tickets ) , with Etihad as one leg operator to India. While from flying from US to India , American checked me in for the onward journey. My ticket says American baggage policy applies to the entire itinerary.

But during return, Etihad was the first operator and had to check my bags. They charged me $320 for a 2nd checked bag, for a bag which was within the limits ( weight and dimensions wise ) . Etihad agent asked me to contact American for any refunds as American issued the ticket with only 1PC listed. But my American ticket receipt said second checked bag would be $100, given my status that was waived for the onward journey. Upon contacting American , they say contact Etihad as I paid them, and Etihad never shares any baggage revenue.

Been a month now, no response from Etihad. Worst customer service.

Based on the Etihad's published information and their excess baggage airport rates listed on Etihad website;

the second bag is N/A from ISC to Zone 3, and they have charged my second bag at the price of their 3rd bag listed rate, which is $320.

Is there a place or someone who can tell what the Interline baggage charge would be for a 2nd checked bag between Etihad and American Airlines.

Clearly Etihad didnot honor what was printed on my ticketed baggage policy. This has happened to 3 other ticketed passengers, all were tickets issued by American, those passengers were never able to get an answer from Etihad what their charges would be. Etihad customer service says only Airport agents can tell what the price will be, which is ridiculous, how are passengers supposed to figure out without showing up for actual check in ? Etihad has closed all offices in India.

Those passengers based on my experience, abandoned the idea of taking a second checked bag and facing surprises at the Etihad Airport Check in. As they could never receive a clear answer from Etihad customer service.
