If the flight is just sold out and you are a single passenger, your chances are fair. Just don't get mad if it doesn't work -- it's standby.

If an earlier flight on that route was cancelled (or on another route that would cause a lot of passengers to get rerouted onto your flight), and there is already an entire flight's worth of people on the priority standby list, you can forget it.
