Other options existing to you are to courier your baggage from Narita to your hotel/accommodation in Osaka. There are plenty of courier desks in the arrivals hall and they're reasonably priced, pretty quick and efficient. That gives you more flexibility in how you continue your journey from Tokyo.
Yeah, we've done that before. It's about $20 / bag... and worth every penny if you're taking the train across the country.
