For the vets here, if one was near MIA and needed to catch an 8:30 AM flight out of FLL, what time would they want/need to be departing the MIA Tri-Rail station heading north? Thanks.

and figure out if there are early enough trains to fit your schedule. The FLL station should be linked to its shuttle schedule. The FLL shuttle is not always on schedule though, and takes an insane 20 min route to the airport. So I'd not be very optimistic about the public tranport option in this case.
