I will try and answer everyone in this 1 post

1- Hotel was Holiday Inn SiLom (nice joint)

2- bear in mnd traffic was at a stand still even trying to get out of the airport and the roads were packed , it was apx 1pm when i left the airport

3- did this yesterday weds 1/24 the day it waspouring rain at times at least where we were driving

4- we went thru only 1 toll could be either he wanted to give me the grand tour or he knew the hway was bad news due to the rain, but it wa sstop and go almost the whole way to the hotel

5- we were beneath a hway or train tracks for most of the way

6- no way to know even if I went downstairs if it would have been any different, again the meter was used and if a driver is going to give the grand tour they can do it from downstairs as well or could be downstairs driver would have gone thru 2 tolls and the meter would have been more due too the traffic not moving at all

personally at home if its pouring out I also drive under the hway rather then on it

today when heading to my hotel for tonight(Thurs) the cab wanted 300 thb I said meter he ignored me , I walked down the ramp to the street hailed a cab and it was 135. staying around the corner from The Bangkok Hospital, tomorrow hotel #3 then Sun #4

the ONLY way not to be ripped-off is 1 if theres a regulated flat rate posted everywhere or 2 a person lives or has been to a place numerous times and knows the roads and the shortest way to go, or as 1 poster said they open up Waze and see it that how the driver is going. I dont have access to Waze and even if I did I dont known the roads

waze a friend told me many times he doesnt follow it when he knows the are as he prefers another street whih may tack on 1 or 2 mins extra at most. for sure Garmin is like that, i dont pay attention go the way I know and it ends up being a few mins shorter or the same

All in all, I got to where I was suppose to and 1 poster said it s/b 250-350 so 393 with all the stop and go and sitting going no where seems to be about right
