Second renewal of this card. Spent 45k last year. Was offered 10k MR points or a $100 statement credit. I think I can get more value than 1 cent per point, so took the points. I hate these calls. After navigating the painful phone tree was flipped from one rep (that tried to get me to sign up for the extended payment option) to a "retention specialist." They were polite and helpful, but the flattery they provide on the phone feels so insincere.
Note that if they ever offer you the "extended payment option" that typically gives you 10,000 points at zero cost (you don't have to extend any payments, and indeed it's generally crazy to do so). I love it when they present me with this option...
