Some Club Europe fares are below US$100 each way, and that's only going to happen on the model that BA uses. If BA went for a fixed two by two arrangement up front - as used in the USA - then we'd end up paying similar (higher) fares as the USA market, which certainly isn't something I would like!
I agree with c-w-s; also in Australia (where Qantas operates a fixed 2-2 business class on their SH fleet), tickets for domestic business class are quite a bit more expensive (almost prohibitively expensive) I find.
I don't find the flexible European model too bad.
