You can probably hoist your bag over the barricade, or try to wedge it through the initial opening?

I think most locals go up to level 4 to save TIME?
Just to be very clear, time is not usually a problem anymore since they put the automated kiosks in the taxi areas. Yes, you save a few seconds not having to go down an escalator, but it's going to take longer than that to find where to go through the turnstile if you've never been there before. And the poster likely does not realize the setup discourages passengers with bags. The airport authorities, knowing about traffic patterns, taxi rules, etc., have set up impediments to doing what the poster is trying to do, but the poster thinks he is smarter and will be able to walk into a situation about which he knows nothing and succeed against professionals whose job it is to prevent people from doing just that, all to save $1. I wish I could watch. It would be different if the poster was a local familiar with how things work and had no luggage, but for a first trip, pay the extra buck (you are already saving money because you aren't using a non-meter rate). Just do the normal cab pick-up.
